UNOFFICIAL Jambo Site - Everyone Welcome!

Jamboree was both exciting and disappointing at same time,

I was expecting it to be of highest quality scout camp, but it was far from it. The climbing walls and water areas were disappointing including scuba diving. Everything was located much too far apart, and schedules were constantly off. It would have been okay for a fraction of what i paid.

I did enjoy the arena shows, mysterium compass (despite 90 minute wait) and merit badge midway (staff were superb)

Patch trading was fun and getting to meet scouts was great, perhaps there should be more emphasis on brotherhood like at world jambo, and less on expensive junk.

What sub-camp were you in? In SC7 we had only one bathroom trailer with 3 urnals and one toilet for over 140 staff. When we complained to the headquarters staff through our Action Center C head (Chuck Erickson) he was told to just live with it. I found that the lower in the staff you went there was a higher level of sacrifice and dedication. The higher you went in the organization the less responsiveness to our needs. Our cooking staff went into town every day to buy food out of their own pocket, I can't say enough how much I appreciate it.
On the departure day it was mass confusion. All the subcamp staff was gone and the Western Region staff gave out conflicting info on bus schedules...real disapointing.
