David D Dummer Thinking about 2013

I attended the 1977 Jamboree as a scout.  That was the last Jamboree before it moved to Fort AP Hill.

I attended the 2010 Jamboree as an ASM.  That was the last Jamboree before moving to the Summit.

I'm currently a committee member in my home troop, so I can't be a Jamboree scoutmaster, only an assistant scoutmaster.  If a scoutmaster postion should open up in my home troop, I would probably throw my hat into the ring for the position and then apply to be a…

Jerry Williams Jambo 2013

2010 was my 4th Jamboree and so far my best.  I had both my kids there with me.  My son was with the council contingent and my daughter was on staff with me.  She enjoyed it so much that she did not want to leave.  I don't know what the future will hold but I hope that in 2013, I will be back with both my kids again.

Miran Franklin Tyrrell Can't Wait for 2013

My son will be old enough to serve on staff next time.  He enjoyed going with our Council Contingent, but he has heard all the fun I had meeting and working with Scouters from across the country and has said he'd like to try that out. We didn't get to connect during the Jamboree until the last day since he missed the bus stop he needed by falling asleep on the route - the guys I was working with weren't sure I really had a son since they never saw him.

Food Service might not have as…

John Hatch 2013 Jamboree Staff?

I had a great time at Jambo 2010 on Staff and can't wait for 2013 at The Summit!  Does anyone know how and/or when Staff information / applications will be handled.  I served on Internal Transportation at the last Jambo and am anxious to see if that position will even exist in 2013; they say that everyone will be walking so there will be no need for all of the busses to move people around.  Plus of course, the Jamboree will cove a much smaller area.

National Jambo Team The Summit – 3D Models Reveal Some Cool Views Ahead

By Doug Cook

Last Frontier Council Blog

(Thanks Doug for sharing another great post!)

Here’s a mockup of the 2013 jamboree site I modeled with mapping software. The image below is roughly the same overhead view as the 2013 Jamboree map in the "Summit Bechtel Size Comparisons" post.…

National Jambo Team Summit Bechtel Size Comparisons

By Doug Cook

Last Frontier Council Blog

(Thanks Doug for letting us share your Blog!)

I compared Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom with some of our council properties alongside Fort AP Hill, site of the 2010 jamboree. I selected the Magic Kingdom as a reference to help understand the places that produce…

Yoni Miller Jamboree was both exciting and disappointing at same time,

I was expecting it to be of highest quality scout camp, but it was far from it. The climbing walls and water areas were disappointing including scuba diving. Everything was located much too far apart, and schedules were constantly off. It would have been okay for a fraction of what i paid.

I did enjoy the arena shows, mysterium compass (despite 90 minute wait) and merit badge midway (staff were superb)

Patch trading was fun and getting to meet…

Bruce Dolder Activities/Mobilization Team

While serving on the SubCamp 10 Activities/Mobilization Staff, our responsibilities were:
  1. Assist with the arrival of our troops by riding the bus from the gate to their campsite, where we handed them over to their Unit Commissioner.
  2. Mobilize the troops for both Arena Shows.
  3. One member of our team rode the Special Needs Bus to and from each of the Arena Shows to ensure our Scouts and Scouters with special needs made it to the arena shows.
  4. Station ourselves…

Cooper W Jager had to teach my kids what "heat index" was

We are familiar with wind chill in Colorado. It was 104 degree heat index while at Jambo on 7/29 just before 2pm downpour!

Steve Henning When less is more

At the 2010 Jamboree we had less outside support. We had less military involvement. We had fewer cars from GM. We had less well know entertainers. We had a key cabinet member rather than the president. We we had one great jamboree. God was really looking down on us.

I was on security and we did have MP's help us, or we helped them. We had fewer MP's, but they were still extremely committed and helped out at key times when they were needed.

We had…

Frank Hulsman Catholic Mass

Attending the Sunday morning Catholic Mass is always a highlight for me. Having mass celebrated by cardinals, bishops and many priests is inspiring.

Timothy A Knotts The memories just keep on keepin' on.

Sitting here at 3:00 in the morning. Upset stomach, dehydrated, and just can't sleep. Added photos to the Disabilities Awareness photo album, uploaded a photo of myself, and reconnected with a guy from my sub-camp who was in charge of Rappelling in Action Center "D" (Jerry). Nice way to spend the "wee" hours of the morning, thinking about the good times at Jambo 2010, and dreaming about Jambo 2013.
