This will be my third time on staff and my second welcoming visitors! Any other Jamboree Information Services staff here? I look forward to meeting everyone in a few days. I'm mostly packed, care has been arranged for the pets and plants, and my "floor" has been purchased (and thanks to the nice folks at The Home Depot it is all cut to the dimensions to fit in the car and be reassembled on site). Arena shows are a highlight but don't forget about the OA show...they have been fantastic in years past. I do like that the first arena show is in the morning. Hopefully it will be a bit cooler earlier in the day.

I'm on Jamboree Information Services. It's my first time for this, having done Emergency Medical Dispatch in 2001. See you there.

Michele... I'll be in Jambo Information Services....it's my first time, and I'wonder what you mean by floor? Why do you have it and how much did it cost? -- Jack

I'm in the tents on Lee Dr...will we have electricity?
Comment by Michele Dery Hanes on July 18, 2010 at 12:43pm
Hi Jack,
The tents have limited electricity. In 2005 we had 2 outlets that worked when the lights were turned off in. A power strip will ensure that all 8 people can have one single outlet to run a fan at night. As for a floor...a single 4 foot x 8 foot sheet of plywood or OSB (the stuff that looks like woodchips all pressed together, that's what I'm using as it's less expensive) cut into 4 2 foot x 4 foot pieces. Then 5 pieces of 2x4 cut 4 feet long which are used to rejoin the plywood. They are placed at the 3 seems between the plywood pieces and one at each end. It is put together with nails. This will give you a platform about 2 inches off the dirt (mud) floor of the tent. I purchased one 16 foot 2x4 so I only got 4 pieces and will be using some old pressure treated 2x4 for the final 4 feet needed so that saved me a few dollars. The Home Depot will cut the wood for you if you ask. I also purchased a box of 35 nails as well. It cost about $17 including tax. If you decide not to have a floor you probably want a few pieces of 2x4 or other scrap wood to raise your foot locker off the ground or it will get moldy . My husband didn't want a floor and will be using a shelf off of our heavy duty plastic basement shelves just to have something other then the ground to stand on when getting out of bed. In 2005 I got some cardboard for a floor. It worked fairly well but gets wet. See you at the Hill! Michele
