UNOFFICIAL Jambo Site - Everyone Welcome!

Mine was seeing my son who was a participant having a good time.  I also enjoyed seeing my friends who were working at Merit Badge Midway, riding the red bus around and seeing all the gateways and tents, trading patches, buying stuff at the trading post, target shooting near Boys Life, getting free patches at the display booths, and the roasted corn vendor.

My son was a QBSA Jamboree Radio Staffer and had several On-Air shows, he invited me to sit in on one and gave me my 15 seconds of fame. So of course I gave a shout out to my fellow staffers at Subcamp 12 and all the members of my contingent from Crossroads of America Council (Indiana) - I was the Contingent Chair and had the honor of sharing the experiences of 240 youth and adults. So it's a toss up - my contingent and all the boys and my son and 15 seconds of fame...!!!! And then there was everything else that Jamboree had to offer.
The conservation area was fantastic. But, I think my most favorite thing was seeing how much fun the Scouts had and what a great experience it was for them. I am fortunate to have been a Jamboree leader and what a great bunch of Scouts to lead!
I was 2ASM for our troop and the surprise was that even being in camp on duty while everyone else was out one was still part of the Jamboree. It seemed that without fail another adult leader would drop by and we would chat and trade a patch. Some of these conversations were some of the most interesting that I had during the Jamboree.
This was my first visit to a Jamboree. I really enjoyed the conservation area, mainly because it was so cool and peaceful in the woods. This was also my son's first Jamboree, and I was blessed to have made the trip. I also enjoyed visiting with other scout leaders as they dropped by the camp.

2010 was my 4th Jamboree but by far the best.  My son was with the council contingent and my daughter was on staff with me.  The staff I was with (SR archery) was awesome! Since the Jamboree, my son has earned his Eagle and my daughter is less than a month away from her Silver!

I attended as an ASM for troop 1006, while my son attended as a scout in 1005.  I kept my distance to allow him to experience the Jamboree on his own, but my favorite thing was a day he was to be on QBSA radio, but his troop was scheduled to see Mysterium Compas.  Since he needed a buddy to travel to the radio station, he chose me and we spent a large portion of the day exploring the Jamboree together.

Mine was the fireworks at the arena show

Watching my grandson explore all the activities, and participate in many of them. He also had a yellow jacket nest in his tent and the yellow jackets won !!
The Mysterium Compass was my favorite thing.
