UNOFFICIAL Jambo Site - Everyone Welcome!

I was a duty officer in Subcamp 12, that meant lots of contact with the boys, troop leaders, visitiors, dignitaries, and lots of fellow staffers from all over the country and even the world.  I was also the Contingent Chair and Leader for the Crossroads of America Council's 6 Troops and got to tour with 240 boys and adult leaders, Wow what a combination of exciting roles.  And it was a great experience, sometimes the hours were long - we (there were 5 of us) manned headguarters 24 hours a day, but always had a smile and cordial greeting no matter what the weather, circumstances, hour or challenges.  The contact and hopefully 100% positive impact on everyone who visited Subcamp 12 made my position one of the greatest adventures in my Scouting years (30+).  Although I still think the absolute best position at Jamboree for an Adult is the Jamboree Scoutmaster.  My measure always is: did I have more fun than any adult should be allowed to have..... and as usual, as with all my Scouting assignments, the answer is a resounding YES...!!!!

I don't know about that . I had a great time on Rafting Beach #3!!!! I really hope there are lots of Aquatics at the summit!!!
I believe the best staff position is being a chaplain. While I was a unit commissioner and enjoyed working with the troops and youth, the chaplains assigned to our subcamp were exceptional, went beyond the call of duty to service the youth in our subcamp, took personal interest in several scouts, and had a positive impact on our boys. I can't say enough good things about their service.
I started out as a member of the Action Center C Archery Staff, but was re-assigned to be the sole "Waterboy" for all events at Action Center C. Hard work, but many satisfied customers and met lots of friends.
My position was with Internal Transportation.  We were responsible for helping ensure that the lines for the bus transfer points went as smooth as possible.  With all the scouts, adults, staff, and visitors that refused to walk, it wasn't always an easy task.  The most interesting job I got to do however, was help unload 600 boxes of un-assembled bicycles the night the Jamboree started!
I have to agree with John.  Internal Transport rocked!  As a "mule" I got to meet literally thousands of scouts and scouters as they patiently (??) waited for the buses.  I made a lot of new friends on the transport staff and would work beside any of them once again.  A special shout out to Greg Smith who made my stay at Longstreet Airlines a true delight.  See you all in 2013!!
Working in Food Service was great - we were always appreciated!  Got to meet and work with Scouters who have been active longer than I've been alive - the down time we had between meals to laugh at Ron's stories will always be a highlight.
I had the privledge of serving on the woodcarving MB staff, 35 staff members I never met before,It felt like I new them forever.Greatest bunch of men and women. After working all day, we would sit outside wilcox barracks and carve till we couldn't see anymore. Teaching woodcarving during the Jambo I got to meet scouts from many states and differant countries, They were all so polite and well behaved, as you might expect, but  always dosen't happen. Out of my 30+ years of Scouting this was truly one of the highlights.
Arena Staff has really long days...I averaged 14 hours...can't wait to do it again in 2013
