Howdy all - Bryan Bateman here from the Great Lakes Council (formerly Detroit Area Council).   I went through Cubs in the "Mighty" Michigami District and my Boy Scout career was with Troop 1954.   As a First Class scout I attended Jambo in 1985.

As a youth I earned my Eagle Scout in 1987 and went on to get involved with staffing our council Junior Leader Training courses for a few years as well as working at D-bar-A Scout Ranch in Metamora, MI

After high school I stayed involved as an Assistant Scoutmaster and after college I attended Woodbadge course C-16L-95 and later went on to be a patrol counselor for Woodbadge in 1998.

Flash forward - marriage / kids / and a few years of being a member of the district-at-large without having an active role.  In the past 6 years I have been reengaged in scouting - same council, new district.    I was my son's Cubmaster and now that he is in the BSA I have taken a lesser role on the Troop committee (I refuse to call myself the "Secretary" - so I have one of the youth Webmaster patches on the uniform... )

Just had my Jambo interview this week for a 1ASM role - Great Lakes Council is trying to staff 8 troops so I think my odds are pretty good!

Greetings! Just accepted staff position at 2013 Natioal Jamboree in Hiking, Fshing, Nature, and Conservation. My son is attending with our council contingent. This will be the first jamboree for us both. Not sure what to expect, but really looking forward to it!
